Awesome Use of Fabric

With Christmas close at hand I realized I should get started with the Christmas gifts, I had always thought I'd make something this year but I had no idea until now.

I love this but instead of separate patterns I will use one fabric to complete the tree and add details to make it look larger than life.

I'm feeling good about the holidays!

Busy, Busy, Busy

It seems I never have time to stop by...sure I'm busy and the stress is at his peak but the main reason for the absence is thanks in part to Qwest.

Our internet service was shut off!

Who knew someone was keep track of how behind we were in our payments. We sure didn't. So we've been without the internet for a couple days now. I think we were junkies because our lives have been strange and neither one of us realized how dependent to the internet we were. But I paid the bill yesterday. I hope when I get home it'll finally be online.

So many classes actually depend on the internet now a days...

I'm have one last class that is kicking my ass right now, may I never take this professor again she has been the real joy kill of the fall semester.

The dolls are still in pre-production mode. Had a meeting with an awesome collaborator this past Friday about the set design and we discussed the film at length.
She will be working on designing the new sets as well as figuring out the props we will need for the film. I will continue to complete my intricate dolls and start working on my zombies (this really is my favorite occupation).

So December is already shaping up into a pleasurable month for me.

Crap! Its 6:45 pm and I have no idea where my brother is? I need to locate him and flee this campus. My favorite show is on tonight, Project Runway!!!

Trust me when I say that the show has real merit. Tim Gun, Heidi and the absurd clothing designers are fascinating when you long to just watch something cheap and easy. Besides all the sewing, designing and craftiness just warms my heart. I want all craft shows to be this slick and easy on the eyes.

**Besides with this kind of eye candy...it would be a crime not to watch the show!**

Hmm, its about time for an absurd update!

I went home for Thanksgiving in hopes of working on my characters and taking some home pictures...I never usually take pics of my reclusive parents so I thought it was about time.

We didn't leave for home until Thanksgiving afternoon and I had packed up my sewing machine, fabric and my personal effects. But I left my unfinished dolls on the table in my apartment!

But thats okay because nothing could dampen our spirits after a home cooked meal...until the cops banged on our front door at 1am. Some pre-teens broken into my dad's office (Water and Waste Management) and ransacked the place.
I always said the rez was not a safe place to live.

The pre-teens threw a huge rock into the office window and beat the cash register with an old shovel. To their dismay the register was empty. And they emptied a huge tool bag of its tools. Threw some brand new sockets into a trash bag and left them on the floor beside the shovel.
They raided my dad's desk and found a digital camera, they stole a lap top but didn't seem to recognize the company credit cards that were tossed to the floor.

Then when my dad and his employee were in the office at 2 in the morning boarding up the broken window when some little kid on a bike jiggled the front door (as if he thought it might be open) and rode off down the road to a nearby house.

It gets better.

To add to the hilarity...my 10 year old cousin was on the porch (across the street from the building) and witnessed four kids breaking in. She tried to tell my aunt about it but after she was rebuffed she called the cops on her cell phone. After the call two of the boys split up and broke into a neighboring gas station.

The local security guard drove up and the kids took off.

So it was an interesting Thanksgiving for everyone.

*I'm hoping to complete the male lead, FRANK, Monday night during Chuck and after Heroes*

Thank God for Mondays!

After a pleasantly brief talk with my professor I feel absolutely relieved about the status of my film.
She was undeterred by my information and was quick to think of a resolution.

She is an angel and I feel better about my film. I'm gonna go and work on creating some students...up dates to follow!

:D

In an effort to think positively...I had some kick ass bangs today. They weren't felt but they'll do.

Odd Thought

I wonder if could drop out and continue making these short animations as a portfolio.

A series of zombie apocalypse as acted out by prissy dolls.

It has potential.

The film is now in production limbo

I will be meeting with my professor to discuss my film...I don't know what will happen. She is now aware of my many set backs and wants to discuss alternative plans of action.

I feel sick with the idea that my film and my academic standing is in jeopardy. Shit.

I want to just lay in bed and sew some more characters. *The pix to the left is how I feel, NOT one of my characters*

Film Delays Will Be The End Of Me

So far every shoot has had some hitch or delay that has caused me to improvise. The test shoot became a 'test shoot' because my producer and my art director flaked on me. Meaning that I had NO set and one puppet for that weekend of shooting.

The second weekend was a fucking disaster because my art director took a gig out of town and my producer who has little to no crafting experience was hard pressed to help where she could. These dolls may be hand sewn but they are a huge time consumption to create.

This weekend was my big chance to get back onto schedule and it was a fucking mess. I still have dolls to finish (its the little details that kill me) and there were three set back drops that I had ready but nothing was shot until this morning and then everything derailed.

Last night I spent so much time working on my characters that I lost track of time and was up all night. By early morning I was so wired on adrenaline that I started erecting the sets and the lighting equipment as well as loading the camera (16mm bolex). About 11:00 I started getting a headache and started feeling dizzy. Thinking that I had time to take a quick nap I curled up in my bed waiting for my producer to show up at my apartment so we could film.

Just my fucking luck I sleep until 4:40pm. I missed my producer by about 3 hours and I was another 2 weeks behind schedule.

Here is the finished product of last nights work:

I wonder if anything will go in my favor this semester?
